I bought one of these because my PS3 is a launch 60GB model which have a habit of dying every now and again (at least more than any other model of PS3). I have my PS3 in an entertainment center, and often times the internal fans would be blowing full force and my PS3 would be very hot to the touch. I knew I had to do something about this, but I’ve also heard numerous horror stories about intercoolers for consoles this generation. The last thing I wanted to do was make the situation worse, but thankfully, this product does no such thing.
My brother had a Nyko Intercooler TS for his 360, and personally, I thought it worked quite well. I picked one up for my Elite about a week prior to ordering this and it worked great for me too, so I hoped the PS3 version would have the same effect. My 360 wasn’t even running that hot, but the Nyko TS still helped keep it that much cooler, and for as hot as my PS3 was running, any little bit would help.
After receiving this and unpacking it, I didn’t even have to look at the directions. All I had to do was pop it in the back vents of my PS3, plug in the adapter, and it was ready to go. I fired up my PS3, and within 2 or 3 minutes, the fans had already turned on (yes, my PS3 was getting that hot that quickly). I turned the fan speed up to the max via the dial on the side (something the 360 version doesn’t have, but I love the feature) and let it run for a few minutes. After checking my PS3 again, I could immediately notice a difference in temperature compared to how it was before I put the TS on.
Now, although it works great, it may not be for everyone. I sit about 10 feet from my PS3 and play with surround sound cranked up to a decent volume, so the fans weren’t that noticeable even on the highest setting, so that’s where I left it to get the most out of the product. However, if you sit close to your PS3 or rely on only your TV speakers at a mid-level volume, the fans may bother you. Because my PS3 was getting so hot before I applied this, the internal fans were already semi-audible, so this device didn’t really add too much to the noise factor that I was already experiencing anyway. After a while they blend into the background and you can’t even tell they’re on.
Overall, this intercooler does its job very well if you don’t mind the noise. I would hate to have anything happen to my PS3 because that model is so hard to come by, and this product not only cools my PS3 down efficiently, but it also makes me feel a lot better about playing it for prolonged periods of time. If you’re willing to put up with a possibly annoying hum from the fans (depending on where your PS3 is situated, how sensitive your hearing is, etc.) then this product is completely worth the price to keep your PS3 cool. It’s well worth the to price tag to protect your 0+ purchase, and this cooler does it as good, if not better, than any other cooler out there.

It seems to work pretty well, but its just too loud. It’s so loud sometimes that i cant really hear my tv over it. Pay a little more to get a quiet one its worth it.
Will void warrenty Buyer Beware – chemosh6969 –
By hooking this up, you’re covering the exhaust ports on your ps3 playstation system. This will cause it to overheat. When you send it in for warranty repair, they can read the cpu and it will tell them you had an unauthorized device hooked up to the machine and they won’t fix your system. They will make you pay for it.
If this device really worked, why is the intercooler company afraid to add a warranty saying if this breaks your device, they will fix your ps3 playstation system.
